The Bayou La Batre City Docks Redevelopment Project (City Docks Project) is an opportunity to revitalize the City Docks. The goal is to meet current and future economic, environmental, and recreational needs by planning sustainable retail and commercial developments and recreational opportunities that support eco-tourism and fishing industries. The City Docks Project provides a means for developing amenities that attract both locals and tourists while showcasing Bayou La Batre’s small-town coastal atmosphere and historical heritage as the ‘Seafood Capital of Alabama’.

The City Docks Redevelopment project has reached full design, based on the master planning. The design team consisted of marine structural, civil, and electrical engineers, as well as architects and landscape architects. They have reached 100% design based on master planning concepts and available construction budget. The team will work with the funder for approval of all plans and specifications for construction. Pending all Federal Treasury approvals and permits, construction of City Docks site could commence in Summer 2024.
